Primary Responsibilities

In the role of Senior Engineer Traffic, we'll count on you to:

  • Provide design oversight for the production of traffic signals, signing, and striping.
  • Provide oversight for delivering capacity and signal warrant analyses, traffic studies, signal timing optimization, traffic modeling and transportation planning projects.
  • Lead the development of scope, schedule, and budget for sub tasks within large projects and standalone projects.
  • Track financial aspects of your assigned projects, and coordinate and adjust work effort with team to ensure that work is completed within parameters of agreed-to scope, schedule and budget.
  • Interface with client and/or client-facing teams to coordinate delivery of a successful project.
  • Support business development, proposals, and other marketing activities.
  • Demonstrate extensive experience conducting public participation, agency coordination, transportation planning and programming.
  • This position has the opportunity to supervise EITs and Junior planners to support ongoing team development.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in planning, Engineering, or related field
  • A minimum of 10 minimum years' experience in ITS and traffic engineering for urban and rural highways, major and minor interchanges, and intersections
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license
  • Strong knowledge of local, state, and federal requirements for transportation.
  • Experience using HCS, Synchro, VISSIM, Cube, TransCAD.or similar software packages.
  • Solid business development skills: demonstrated ability to relate well to clients; and demonstrated presentation skills.
  • An attitude and commitment to being an active participant of our employee-owned culture is a must.
  • Possess excellent analytical and communication skills.
  • Commitment to a rigorous quality control process
  • Experience collaborating across multidisciplinary teams.
  • Positive attitude and ability to work independently or as part of a team.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects and personnel.
  • Willingness to travel on occasion for in-person client meetings or staffing public engagement activities.
  • Perform all duties as needed.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master's degree in planning, Engineering or a related field
  • AICP license holder
  • Experience using AutoCAD, MicroStation, Open Roads Designer or ArcGIS is a plus.
  • PTOE or RSP1 or IMSA Certification
